Texas floods: Budweiser brewery to can water instead of beer to help flood victims

US beer giants behind Budweiser and Beck's are canning water instead of beer at one plant to provide relief to people affected by severe floods in Texas and Oklahoma

An American brewery is filling its cans with water instead of beer, to help flood victims in Texas and Oklahoma.

Thunderstorms and flash floods have swept through the two states this week, resulting in at least 25 deaths and damaging thousands of homes. Hundreds were evacuated from their properties last night amid flooding fears as the Colorado River began spilling its banks.

NBC News reports that the Busch beer company has stopped production at its plant in Cartersville, Georgia in response. The brewery are behind a number of major US beer brands including Budweiser and Beck’s.

The factory will now can water instead of beer, to give to the American Red Cross. The charity will then distribute the water in affected regions.

The beer brand is a disaster relief partner to the Red Cross and produces cans of emergency relief water several times a year for the charity. Around 2,000 cases of the water cans are now on their way to Texas. They aim to produce 50,000 cans in total.
