A group of people have had to be rescued from a roller coaster in Florida after a technical glitch left them staring up at the sky for hours.

The Hollywood Rip Ride at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida ground to a halt when a computer malfunction forced the roller coaster into safety mode.

The group, which included three children, was stuck on the ride for three hours before being rescued by firefighters. No one was hurt in the incident but one person was taken to hospital suffering from neck pains.

The ride has had problems before, leaving one person with minor injuries when it stopped suddenly.
