‘A passing attempt at adulthood’: Stacey Abrams gives scathing reaction to Trump finally starting transition
Georgia politician said Mr Trump realised he ‘was hurting’ country
Stacey Abrams gave a scathing reaction to Donald Trump finally giving permission for the transition to begin.
The outgoing president announced on Twitter that he had given the GSA his approval to work with Joe Biden’s transition team, which had been blocked until now.
“It seems like a passing attempt at adulthood,” said the the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate on MSNBC.
"He recognises, at least in this instance, that he is not simply hurting himself, he’s hurting the people of America.
"He is entitled to all the litigation he can muster but he is not entitled to hurt the people of the United States as he tries to undo the will of the people."
Ms Abrams and her voter registration project is credited with helping Mr Biden win the battleground state and take the White House.
The politician is now working to help the Democratic candidates in the state’s Senate run-off elections.
Ms Abrams lost her bid to become Georgia’s first black female governor in 2018 but lost amid widespread claims of voter suppression.
In January Democratic candidate Raphael Warnock will go up against against incumbent Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler, and Republican Senator David Perdue will take on Democrat challenger Jon Ossoff.
