Nevada man interrupts press conference, claiming Biden is trying to steal the election

A win in the state could push the Democratic candidate over the finishing line

A frenzied man interrupted a Nevada press conference on Wednesday evening, where he screamed allegations of Democratic election fraud.  

The startling incident occurred during a press conference hosted by the Nevada Registrar of Voters in Clark County.  

An elections official had just finished telling the press that the state was not ready to release a final vote count when a man in a white T-shirt reading “BBQ, Beer, Freedom” emerged from behind and began yelling that the "Biden crime family" was stealing the election and that the media was trying to cover it up.

He repeated his claim several times, before yelling "we want our freedom from the world, give us our freedom Joe Biden" before accusing Mr Biden of stealing the election, and then walking away.

Mail-in votes in Clark County were among those that still needed counting before a clear winner could be called in the state.  

Originally, state election officials said they would not release a final count until Thursday.  

However, pressure from the rest of the country appears to have caused officials to re-think that stance; on Wednesday night, Nevada officials said they might release new updates on the results as soon as Wednesday evening. 

For those watching the election, Nevada is a closely watched race. At the moment, Mr Biden leads Donald Trump by a razor-thin margin - less than a percentage point - with 86 per cent of the state's votes counted. If Mr Biden wins Nevada - and his projected win in Arizona holds up - it would be enough to push him to the needed 270 electoral votes to claim victory in the 2020 US election.  

If Mr Biden loses Nevada, he could still win the election by taking Pennsylvania or Georgia. But Nevada is the clearest path to a victory for Mr Biden at the moment.  

According to Nevada elections officials on Wednesday, the state has already counted all in person early votes, all in-person Election Day votes, and all mail-in ballots through 2 November.  

Mail-in ballots received on Election Day, mail-in ballots that will be received over the remainder of the week and provisional ballots have yet to be counted.  

Generally speaking, mail-in votes tend to favour Mr Biden, though Mr Trump is close enough that a surge in mail-in ballots supporting his re-election could easily win him the state.
