Police with search dogs have boarded a flight at Philadelphia International Airport after the airport received a bomb threat while the plane was en route from San Diego - one of a series of threats against flights bound to various US destinations.

The Associated Press reported that Philadelphia police said the threat indicated there were multiple devices aboard US Airways Flight 648.

It was one of five flights said to be have been threatened on Tuesday morning, one of which - an Korean Air flight from Seoul to San Francisco - is still in the air.

The Airbus A320 carrying 88 passengers and 5 crew members was held on a taxiway after landing safely around 6.15 am on Tuesday.

No injuries were reported. There has been no indication that the threat was founded.

Airline spokeswoman Victoria Lupica says passengers were taken off and transported to a terminal. They were reunited with their luggage and personal items and were free to go, the news agency said.

Lupica says the airline Is assisting passengers with reaching connecting flights. The incident has not affected airport operations.

Last week, a number of US airlines were said to be the targets of threats received by security officials. One flight, an Air France jet, was escorted into New York by two US fighters jets. Nothing untoward was discovered on the plane.
