A Utah school has backed down after reportedly threatening to sack a teacher for posting pictures of herself in a bikini on social media.

The school received complaints from a parent after Mindi Jensen, who is also a fitness model, put up photos and a video of herself in revealing clothing, the Mirror has reported.

At first North Sanpete Middle School told their teacher Ms Jensen the pictures were "pornographic" and to make her pictures private or face losing her job.

She initially obeyed, but then said she would not since women wanted to get in touch with her.

"Why am I taking this off?" the Mirror reported her to have said. "I get comments and messages that it's inspirational to them and women like my story.

"If I put it to private, it's not going to reach these people that might need and understand me."

A spokesperson for North Sanpete School District told Good4Utah they had "cleared up any misconceptions with employees". The school will now reportedly host an internet safety class for their students.
