Video captures moment police officer stops woman jumping off bridge

Chattanooga Police Department have released dash-cam footage of the moment a Tennessee police officer stopped a woman from jumping off a bridge.

The incident took place on Saturday evening at the Market Street Bridge in Chattanooga. The estimated drop from the bridge is 100 feet.

Officer Steven Meador tried to engage the woman with regular conversation but she repeatedly rejected his advice: “I don’t want you to be here”.

When he asked for her name, she replied, “none of your business.”

The woman can be seen standing on the ledge saying “I’m gonna go now… I’m done.”

Mr Meador then pounced on the woman; dragging her off the ledge to the pavement.

He told the Washington Post: “She was still upset, but I don’t think she meant it. I think she was just in a really bad state.”
