The White House was placed on lockdown on Thursday after a person jumped over the fence.

CNN reported that the man was almost immediately apprehended by officers and was detained.

The incident comes just months after the Secret Service took numerous steps to improve security at the White House, including adding a short bike rack fence, and adding spikes atop a fence lining the perimeter of the complex.

Earlier this week, President Barack Obama said there no credible specific threat against the US and urged Americans to enjoy the Thanksgiving Day holiday. However security was tight across the country, no more so then in New York where up to threee million people took part in the tradtional Thanksgiving Day parade.
