Bomber kills 17 in Afghan bathhouse

A suicide bomber blew himself up inside a bathhouse in a southern Afghan border town yesterday, killing 17 people as men gathered to wash for Friday prayers.

The bomber killed 16 civilians and a police inspector in Spin Boldak near the Pakistani border in Kandahar province, the governor's spokesman said. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast, which injured 23 people.
