This is the latest video showing the moment climbers were faced with a wall of snow and ice when a massive avalanche ravaged Everest base camp following the earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday.

In the dramatic footage, thousands of tonnes of snow can be seen cascading towards the camp seconds before engulfing the tents below.

Injured climbers are filmed being stretchered away and loaded onto helicopters so that they can receive medical treatment, while the surrounding tents can be seen buried underneath the vast wall of snow.

It has now been reported that all of those trapped on the mountain have been rescued, many returning with videos showing the harrowing snow slide.

The earthquake that hit on Saturday was measured at 7.8 on the Richter scale and was the worst to hit Nepal in over 80 years.

The latest figures for the number of confirmed dead stands at more than 5,489 but could rise as rescue teams continue to work day and night in the hope of finding survivors trapped under the mountains of rubble scattered across the impoverished Asian nation.
