Ashes star Kevin Pietersen was today fined for speeding after taking a loaned Lamborghini for a drive on a day off from England training.
Cricketer Pietersen, man of the match for his career-best 227 in his team's second-Test win at Adelaide, is set to be rested for a tour fixture against Victoria in Melbourne which starts tomorrow.
So he did not train with his team-mates and instead took a drive along the Great Ocean Road.
The 30-year-old was fined 239 Australian dollars (£150) for driving at more than 120kmh (75mph) in a 100kmh (62mph) zone.
An England and Wales Cricket Board spokesman said: "He (Pietersen) did pick up a speeding fine."
Pietersen's former Hampshire team-mate Shane Warne, a publicity ambassador for Lamborghini, arranged for the England batsman to drive one of the Italian supercars for a day.
Yesterday, Pietersen told followers on Twitter that he was looking forward to the experience.
Today, before he was stopped, he tweeted enthusiastically: "Stunning beaches on The Great Ocean Rd.. Gorgeous drive."
No disciplinary action will be taken against Pietersen by England.
