A man whose house was smashed by a boulder in the Christchurch earthquake has sold the rock in an online auction for NZ$60,000 (£27,000).

Phil Johnson said "Rocky", the 30-tonne boulder, tumbled down a hill, crunched through the roof of his garage and came to rest in his hallway.

He wrote in the sales note: "Rocky will enhance your indoor/outdoor flow, especially if you load him in through the garage roof like we did."

The cash will be donated to quake victims.
