A man who tried to chase off bird activists wearing just his t-shirt and underpants has become the subject of a series of memes circulating on social media.

The farmer made the news after he was pictured apparently confronting members of the French Bird Protection League (LPO) as they attempted to dismantle poaching traps for finches in front of journalists in farmland near Audon, south-west France.

The scantily-clad man reportedly waved a spade at the activists and journalists, while LPO president Allain Bougrain-Dubourg told French newspaper Liberation, that they were hit “three or four times with a shovel”.

Some of the memes feature the farmer next to well-known sites such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, while others feature him in iconic film scenes.

The activists will reportedly sue the man.

It is also believed he will press charges against the activists for trespassing on private property, The Telegraph reported.
