Paris attacks: Father of Bataclan killer says he ‘would have killed him if he had known what he was going to do’

The father of the man identified as the third attacker, who targeted the Bataclan concert hall in Paris, has said he “would have killed” his son had he known what he was planning to do.

On 13 November, a series of coordinated attacks in the French capital killed 130 people, 89 of whom died at the Bataclan. The so-called Islamic State (Isis) claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The third Bataclan attacker was identified by French officials on Wednesday. He has been widely named as 23-year-old French national, Foued Mohamed-Aggad.

His father, Said, expressed his shock at finding out about his son’s actions. He told Le Parisien newspaper: “What kind of human being could do what he did?”

“If I had known he would do something like this, I would have killed him." He added that he found out about his son’s role in the attacks through the media.

Mohamed-Aggad’s mother received a text message notifying her that her son had died around 10 days ago. She then gave a DNA sample to police to identify him.

The family’s lawyer, Francoise Cotta, said: "The SMS message told her that her son had died, saying: ‘He died on November 13 with his brothers’.”

"She was instantly struck by the horrific thought that he might have been one of the Bataclan suicide attackers," said Mr Cotta.

The other two Bataclan attackers were Frenchmen Omar Ismail Mostefai and Samy Amimour. Together the three men opened fire on the crowd at the Eagles of Death Metal concert.

Two detonated their explosives when police special forces moved in and one was shot by police.
