Swedish artist targeted in murder plot
Swedish prosecutors have accused three men arrested in an anti-terror sting this month of plotting to kill an artist who depicted the Prophet Mohammed as a dog.
Citing classified material from the investigation, newspaper Metro said the target of the plot in the west coast city of Gothenburg was Lars Vilks, who lives under police protection due to death threats over his drawing of Mohammed in 2007.
Authorities have remained tight-lipped about the case and prosecutor Agnetha Hilding Qvarnstrom declined to comment on the report.
An art centre celebrating the inauguration of an exhibition was evacuated in connection with the September 10 arrests, sending jitters through Sweden on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.
