Hamas uses website to fund suicide bombings

The military wing of Hamas, which has vowed to continue suicide bombings to protest against the Israeli occupation, has launched a website appeal for funds to buy weapons and explosives for its attacks.

Angry young Palestinians can receive the ideological indoctrination to become a suicide bomber just by switching on a computer. The website shows pictures of suicide bombers and their final wills.

The Hamas military wing Izzedine al Qassam boasts that its fighters "have killed 65 per cent of the Israelis who have died in the suicide bombing attacks. You can now be a provider for an Istishadi [a martyr-attacker, or a suicide bomber]," says the website.

It says that a Kalashnikov costs $2,000 (£1,400) and a bullet $3. An anti-tank launcher costs $12,000 while $100 buys 1kg of TNT explosives. A belt stuffed with explosives for a suicide bomber costs less than $150.

The radical Palestinian groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad, and Yasser Arafat's mainstream Fatah movement, could well attract thousands of volunteers for suicide bombings after the failure of the American diplomatic mission.
