The winner of the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on Friday.

The bookies’ favourites include Donald Trump, who received nominations from 18 Republican lawmakers, Kim Jong-un and Moon Jae-in, for the Koreas’ steps towards disarming their nuclear weapons, and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), who led a lawsuit that halted the Trump’s administration’s policy of separating families at the border.

This year there are 331 nominees for the prize, including 216 individuals and 115 groups. The winner will be revealed by the five-member Nobel committee in Oslo.

The prize is given each year to the individual or organisation who is considered to have done the most to advance world peace.

Last year’s winner, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, ICAN, was the 23rd organisation to win.

Other previous winners include Martin Luther King Jr in 1964, Mother Teresa in 1976, and Mikhail Gorbachev in 1990.
