Dog helps man struck by lightning
A man who was struck by lightning has praised his dog after it led him back to his house to raise the alarm.
Ian Thomas, who is the mayor of Redruth, Cornwall, was thrown into the air when he was hit by lightning, and was left stunned and dazed on the ground.
He grabbed hold of his schnauzer, Monty, who led him back to his house where his wife called 999. She thought he had had a stroke or a heart attack but hospital tests showed that had he suffered a lightning strike.
Doctors said Mr Thomas's rubber wellington boots had probably saved his life.
