Mesut Ozil: 'A return to Germany is not an option for me. I'm really happy at Arsenal'

The playmaker is not seeking a return to the Bundesliga

Mesut Ozil has ruled out a return to the Bundesliga, insisting that he is 'really happy' at Arsenal.

The German international has struggled to live up to the expectations of many Arsenal supporters since he arrived at the club from Real Madrid back in 2013.

To date, the 26-year-old has scored eight goals and supplied 15 assists in the the 42 Premier League matches he has featured in, having provided 47 assists in 105 matches in La Liga.

But the World Cup winner does not believe he has anything to prove in England, and insists he has no desire to leave Arsene Wenger's side.

Speaking to German publication Express, Ozil said that: “A return to Germany is not an option for me right now. I am really happy at Arsenal and I want this to continue."

“I played in the Bundesliga and at Real Madrid. But the English Premier League is the strongest league in the world. Opponents never give up. Even if we're 3-0 in front with Arsenal, the players never give up and fight until the very last second.

"I don't need to prove them anything. But it is correct that I have to work harder to reach my goals,” he continued.

“That's why I'm working as hard as I never worked before in my life. My body is more stable and I feel fresher. You need that in England."
