Black and white is back on the catwalk this season, and the new monochrome leather Cooper easy armchair could well become the interiors equivalent of the little black dress. Designed by Gunilla Allard for "sitting back, thinking, resting and reading", its fine stitching details were allegedly inspired by the Mini Cooper. With a slender, elegant silhouette, and constructed from a five-footed starbase finished in chromium-plated steel, the chair is pleasing on the eye and designed to provide total comfort. You can buy the Cooper at Coexistence, which supplies furniture, lighting and accessories from European and North American manufacturers including B&B Italia, Vitra, Fritz Hansen, Knoll International and Artifort. Coexistence specialises in sourcing alternative products, and can put together any size of furniture project to suit all sizes of budget. Cooper easy armchair, from £1,300, and Footstool, from £400, available at Coexistence, 288 Upper Street, London N1 (020-7354 8817); www.coexistence.co.uk

Contemporary porcelain Menhir lamps cast a nicely diffused glow and could warm up even the most clinical of today's interiors. They come in two other styles of translucent lamp from the Diffuse range at Models Own, and all share an ethereal quality suggesting weightlessness and tranquillity. Models Own specialises in innovative and design-led gifts and home accessories, organised this season into urban cool, including a supple suede footstool, £235, and country chic, which has a selection of driftwood mirrors and lampstands. Menhir, £160, available at Models Own (01803 835842); www.modelsown.com

When Zara Juricic was making a living from selling pashmina shawls four years ago, her intensive research into the best cashmere in the world led her to Nepal, where she built up a portfolio of some of the highest quality cashmere products in the country. She then turned her attention to interiors and launched Mimo, a company dedicated to beautiful cashmere throws and blankets. Her throws and blankets are extremely high quality and exceptionally soft, warm and light. They're made from 85 per cent cashmere with a silk border and are available in colours such as camel, lavender, ocean, ruby, juicy, raspberry and aubergine – though the plan this season is to introduce a range of muted tones, too. They are available in two thicknesses; 1 ply, which is light and quite sheer; and 2 ply, which is heavier and thicker, and better to have at the end of your bed. Cashmere throws, from £220 + VAT, available at www.mimomimo.com, or by calling 01206 396902

These Red and blue glasses are reassuringly heavy with an engraved diagonal line design for added texture, and would be good for whisky shots or water. They're part of a new range at Ede and Nia, the mail order company whose philosophy is "a little luxury for everyday life". Their first brochure includes felted wool throws with soft suede edging, hand-crafted fine porcelain breakfast bowls, scented candles, lavender pillows, suede-covered travel passes, herb-infused lotions, hand-embroidered silk bags and one-off ceramic espresso sets. Short glasses, £13, tall glasses £15, available at Ede and Nia (020-7602 8229); www.edeandnia.co.uk
