Ian Bell offered another timely reminder to the England selectors of his form with an unbeaten 60 to guide Warwickshire to a six-wicket victory over Middlesex at Edgbaston in the Friends Provident Trophy yesterday.

Middlesex chose to bat first but eight players failed to make it out of single figures, with Eoin Morgan (62) and Dawid Malan (43) the only pair to spend much time in the middle. Warwickshire eased past the 165-run target with more than 14 overs to spare. Neil Carter contributed 56 from 58 balls.

Michael Lumb hit 57 as Hampshire cruised to a six-wicket defeat of Nottinghamshire, who made 202, having opted to bat first in overcast conditions at the Rose Bowl. Dimitri Mascarenhas skittled the top three Nottinghamshire batsmen for a combined total of 10 runs, but Will Jefferson steadied the ship with 93 before being bowled by Dominic Cork. However, Hampshire reached their target with more than six overs remaining.

James Taylor's century guided Leicestershire to an 18-run win over Worcestershire at the County Ground. Taylor enjoyed a partnership of 121 runs with Boeta Dippenaar (63 not out) as the visitors reached to 282 for 3. Worcestershire were all out for 264.

Ashwell Prince struck 78 as Lancashire overhauled Northamptonshire's total of 211 with 2.3 overs to spare at Old Trafford.
