Australia will have to take a lesson from England if they are to have any chance in the NatWest one-day series, their coach Mickey Arthur has admitted. England are 2-0 up with the next instalment of the five-match series at Edgbaston tomorrow.
Arthur said: "England are playing a very good brand of cricket. They've almost gone back to the old sort of format of one-day cricket – three proper Test players at the top of the order, four out-and-out pace bowlers, a really good spinner. They're playing with their specialists: they're playing the one-day game with their best players. In England, that's a message for every other team, bearing in mind we come back here for the Champions Trophy next year. So England have a blueprint that works and it's one we'll probably need to follow."
Chris Woakes has been called up to England's squad for the the ODI as cover for Stuart Meaker who is attending the funeral of his Surrey colleague, Tom Maynard.
Jade Dernbach, of Surrey, has been ruled out of the rest of the series with a side strain.
