Cycling: Tour de France favourite Chris Froome in new Team Sky deal talks

Chris Froome is in discussions over an extension to his Team Sky contract that could have implications for Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Froome will next week begin his attempt to succeed Wiggins as Tour de France champion when the 100th staging of the race starts in Corsica.

Wiggins' future has been the subject of much conjecture since his withdrawal from the Giro d'Italia with a chest infection and knee complaint, which subsequently ruled him out of the Tour.

"I do feel at home at Team Sky," said Froome, who has been part of the squad since its inception. "I've still got another year on contract with Team Sky, but I'm busy talking with management now to look at lengthening that."

Froome is focused now on becoming undisputed Team Sky leader, but expects Wiggins to bounce back and insisted they could again be team-mates in a Grand Tour. "Why not?" he said.
