Geoffrey Kondogbia celebrates putting Monaco ahead against Arsenal

Arsenal are just 90 minutes from failing to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the fifth season running after losing their round of 16 first leg 3-1 at home to Monaco.

It was a disastrous night for Arsene Wenger as goals from Geoffrey Kondogbia, former Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco have all but sealed Arsenal’s fate. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goal late on is all the north London club have to hang cling on to.

Arsenal had high expectations ahead of the game after drawing what many thought were the weakest of the eight group winners, but that quickly proved not to b the case.

It was also the latest in a string of poor Arsenal performances in the Champions League knockout stages, and leaves them needing to score at least three goals at the Stade Louis II in three weeks' time.

So how did the players rate? Could anyone wearing red hold their head high as ythey left the field?
