Tottenham got their Champions League campaign back on track last time out with a hard-fought 1-0 win away to CSKA Moscow, thanks to Son Heung-min’s 71st-minute winner.

That result moved Mauricio Pochettino’s side up to second in Group E, behind the side that beat them on Matchday 1 at Wembley, Monaco.

Crucially, they sit above Tuesday night’s opponents Bayer Leverkusen by a point, with the German side drawing their opening two games and needing a win in order to keep hopes of a round of 16 place alive.

Spurs will be without Toby Alderweireld for the game with Harry Kane still out injured with an ankle injury.

It’s a big game for…

Son Heung-min. The South Korean has been in fine form since taking over from Kane in the central striker’s role and given the lack of options available for Spurs in that position, he will be the one they look to as the main goal threat.

Best stat…

Leverkusen have lost nine of their last 10 Champions League games against English opposition, with the only exception being a 2-1 home victory over Chelsea in November 2011.

Remember when...

Leverkusen and Spurs met in their only previous encounter in the 2006/07 Uefa Cup group stages. Spurs ran out 1-0 winners in Germany thanks to Dimitar Berbatov’s goal.

Player to watch…

Javier Hernandez. Manchester United must be kicking themselves for letting him leave Old Trafford. Since moving to Leverkusen, ‘Chicharito’ has scored 26 goals in 43 games, including seven in nine appearances already this season.
