Juan Mata may have described his scissor kick goal against Liverpool as the best of his career but he was not the only player to notch an impressive brace in an all-important match at the weekend.

Also on Sunday, Anass Achahbar scored a beautiful left-footed volley - reminiscent of Mata's second against the Reds - to open the scoring at De Kuip in Rotterdam, before adding a second just after half time to give Feyenoord a 2-0 lead over Eredivisie leader PSV Eindhoven. While PSV pegged the score back to 2-1, Fred Rutten's men held on to consolidate their third-place position.

Second-placed Ajax beat ADO Den Haag 1-0 to close the gap at the top to eight points. Ajax boss Frank de Boer is looking for his fifth-consecutive Eredivisie trophy.

Still, Sunday belonged to 21-year-old Anass Achahbar, whose two goals were beautifully taken and cements his place at Feyenoord, having been sent out on loan last season to Arminia Bielefeld.

Writing in his blog on Monday, Juan Mata described his volley as: "Many of you are asking me about the second goal and the truth is I don’t know very well how to explain it...It’s one of the best goals of my career for sure, among other things because it happened in such a massive game. And it helped us win."

Was Achahbar's volley better than Mata's?
