Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his lost bet with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri after his side's 3-0 win against Chievo.

The Portuguese missed from the spot at the Allianz Stadium, as the Old Lady maintained a nine-point lead at the top of Serie A.

But after Stefano Sorrentino's save against Ronaldo with the score 2-0 at the time, the player revealed his miss has cost him a pre-season wager with his manager.

"It's true I had a bet with my coach on scoring every penalty this season," said Ronaldo. "I'm ready to keep it.

"It makes me happy to know that my contribution is appreciated by my coach and teammates. They really welcomed me very well and I want to repay their trust and support with hard work."

Ronaldo's career record from the spot is outstanding: scoring 108 from a possible 130 for a success rate of 83 per cent.

It brings an end to his perfect start to life in Turin from the spot with four successive conversions this season.

With 16 goals in all competitions, Ronaldo will be keen to accelerate in the second half of the campaign, having hit 44 in all competitions last term with Real Madrid.

Lazio away this weekend will be Ronaldo's next opportunity to find the back of the net again.
