Dortmund vs Liverpool team news: Daniel Sturridge benched, Roberto Firmino returns to squad
The England international is replaced by Divock Origi in the starting line-up
Daniel Sturridge has been benched for Liverpool's Europa League quarter-final first leg at Borussia Dortmund.
Reports earlier on Thursday suggested that the England international, who has been out-of-sorts since returning from a hamstring injury in mid-February, would be dropped by Jurgen Klopp.
Divock Origi takes Sturridge’s place in the starting line-up, which is otherwise unchanged from Saturday’s 1-1 league draw with Tottenham Hotspur.
Roberto Firmino is among the substitutes having recovered from a thigh problem.
Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel calls on stalwart Roman Weidenfeller in goal and Mats Hummels returns to the side following the weekend’s 3-2 win over Werder Bremen.
Nuri Sahin, who spent a brief period of time on loan at Liverpool during the 2012/13 season, is named on the bench.
