Manchester United and Tottenham will learn where the next step of their Europa League journey will take them as the draw for the last-32 takes place on Monday.

Spurs drop into the Europa League after failing to qualify from their Champions League group as they struggled to adapt to playing their home games at Wembley.

United needed a final-day victory over Zorya Luhansk to ensure their progression through to the knock-out stages but could face a tough draw after only finishing second in their group.

  • Seeded teams: Fenerbahce, APOEL, St-Ettienne, Zenit, Roma, Genk, Ajax, Shakhtar Donetsk, Schalke, Fiorentina, Sparta Prague, Osmanlispor, Copenhagen, Lyon, Tottenham, Besiktas.
  • Unseeded teams: Manchester United, Olympiacos, Anderlecht, AZ Alkmaar, Astra, Athletic Bilbao, Celta Vigo, Gent, Krasnodar, PAOK, Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Villarreal, Rostov, Borussia Monchengladbach, Legia Warsaw, Ludogorets.

Hello and welcome to The Independent’s liver coverage of the draw for the Round of 16 for the Champions League.

Only three English clubs remain in the competition following Tottenham’s Group Stage exit, with Arsenal and Leicester City topping their groups and Manchester City finishing second.

However, unlike in previous years, finishing top of your group isn’t necessarily a guarantee of an easier draw.

Holders Real Madrid and five-time winners Bayern Munich are the two to avoid after finishing as runners-up in their groups, behind Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid respectively.

The draw begins at 11am GMT and will be followed by the draw for the Europa League last 32, with Tottenham, who drop into the competition after finishing third in their group, and Manchester United both keen observers.

Spurs are guaranteed to be one of the seeded sides after being four of the best-performing teams coming from the Champions League and will have an easier draw, with their second leg being at home.

However, United, after finishing second, are not seeded and will face a potentially tough draw and a second leg away from home – although they cannot draw Spurs.

Pedro Pinto will be presenting today. He may not have the usual razzmatazz that now-Fifa president Gianni Infantino brought to the draw, however.

The first montage is over and now we're into the draw. A name drop for Leicester City already for their "amazing" qualification.

Ah, now time for our first guest, accompanied by a montage of course. It's Ruud Guillit, unsurprisingly. They roll him out for all of these draws.
