Gareth Bale had just 27 touches during the Champions League semi-final first leg between Real Madrid and Juventus and made a meagre 18 passes.

Both goalkeepers saw more of the ball during the game in Turin, with team-mate Iker Casillas having 44 touches and Gianluigi Buffon having 34. Only one outfield player had less, with Stefan Stutaro having 20.

In terms of passing, Bale made the least among any of his team-mates that started the match.

In addition, Bale managed to have just one shot during the contest. It wasn't on target.

The statistics will give credence to the view that the Welshman had little impact on the match, which Real Madrid lost 2-1. The below par performance from the former Tottenham player will undoubtedly be cited as Real Madrid come to terms with the defeat and plot how they can overturn the result when they meet Juventus again in the second leg next Wednesday.
