Liverpool vs Basel team news: Steven Gerrard returns to starting XI for Champions League match
Captain came off the bench during the draw against Sunderland at the weekend
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard returns to the starting line-up for the must-win Champions League game against Basel at Anfield tonight.
Brendan Rodgers named Gerrard on the bench at the weekend for the 0-0 draw with Sunderland. The Reds manager will hope his talisman will have benefited from having only made a substitute appearance on Saturday.
Defenders Jose Enrique and Dejan Lovren and midfielder Joe Allen also return to the starting XI for a game that Liverpool must win if they are to progress to the knock-out phase of the competition.
Kolo Toure is ruled out with groin injury whilst also making way are Alberto Moreno, Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho.
For the visitors, who only need a draw to advance from Group B in second place behind Real Madrid, former Liverpool defender Philipp Degen is on the bench.
