Luis Suarez ban: Barcelona striker claims his 'conscience is clear' after two-game Copa del Rey suspension

Luis Suarez insists his conscience is clear after being handed a two-game Copa del Rey ban for allegedly provoking confrontation with Espanyol players.

The Catalan giants defeated their city rivals 4-1 as Lionel Messi inspired a comeback victory against nine-men at the Camp Nou.

Hernan Perez and Papakouly Diop were sent off in the heated clash, while goalkeeper Pau Lopez was also accused of stamping on Argentina forward Messi.

Suarez clashed with Diop during the game and according to referee Juan Martinez Munuera, whose report has reportedly been published by newspaper Diario Sport, Diop was shown a straight red after telling the Uruguayan "I s*** on your w***e mother" in Spanish.

The former Liverpool striker, who scored a hat-trick against Athletic Bilbao in La Liga this weekend, said: “About the sanction, I don't know if I will play but my conscience is clear because I did not say anything,

“My instincts and ambition have got me this far. That's one of my strengths and I fought all the way to get there ahead of the keeper and was able to win the penalty.”

Luis Enrique’s men are two points behind La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid with a game in hand and face Premier League outfit Arsenal in the knock-out round of the Champions League next month.
