Luis Suarez has hit out at the English media stating that they are a major reason he left Liverpool for Barcelona last summer.

Suarez was involved in several controversies during his time at Anfield before arriving at the Nou Camp for £75million in the summer.

On his return to England last month in the Champions League against Manchester City, images and footage that appeared to show Suarez biting Martin Demichelis were splashed on newspapers and websites.

Footage from another angle proved that Suarez had not come close to biting the City defender.

"I don’t know if there is a campaign of the English press towards me, but it can be seen that they miss me," Suarez told beIN SPORTS. "They criticise me so much that they look for something that is not there to draw attention.

"They published images of me (above) in the morning and when they saw that that was false those images disappeared off the pages. I said enough and that they leave me alone and that I went because I was tired of them, but yet they are still looking [for me]."

After a difficult start to life in Spain, where he was struggling for form, Suarez is now among the goals with eight in his last eight matches.

"I am very happy at Barca, I fulfilled a dream to play at the best club in the world and now I am enjoying it," he added. "I am contributing things to the team and that leaves me calmer and makes me feel important.

"The family are very happy in Barcelona and enjoying a city that we knew. The children are in the school and my wife is very happy."
