Gareth Bale's mixed performance in El Clasico has left nearly 70 per cent of Real Madrid fans wanting him dropped from the starting XI, according to a poll by AS.

The Madrid based newspaper set up a vote following Los Blancos 2-1 defeat to Barcelona at the weekend, the result of which left Real Madrid trailing their bitter rivals by four points in La Liga with 10 matches remaining.

Bale put in a mixed performance at the Nou Camp, starting the match impressively and seeing a goal disallowed for offside. However the former Tottenham player faded as the match progressed, with statistics showing he made only seven passes during the second half, with just two in the last 30 minutes as Real Madrid chased the game.

In addition to his low level of involvement, Bale's pass accuracy of just 58.6 per cent was the lowest of any player competing in El Clasico.

According to the 8,532 who took part in the AS poll, which asked if Bale should be dropped, 68.3 per cent said he should.

It's the latest blow to the Wales international who has been under severe pressure this season and found himself regularly booed by his club's own supporters.

On Sunday night, video footage appeared to show fans attacking his car as he tried to leave the club's training ground.
