Real Madrid and Atletico to face sanctions by Fifa over the same transfer irregularities as Barcelona

Reports in Spain suggest that the two Madrid clubs have been found guilty of breaching Fifa's ruling over signing minors

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will be punished by Uefa for transfer irregularities similar to those Barcelona have already been found guilty of, it has been reported.

Barcelona are currently serving a transfer embargo that will expire on 1 January 2016. While the club have been allowed to sign players such as Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal, new transfers are not allowed to play for the club and will have to wait until January before being allowed to make their debuts.

However, it is being reported that their two closest La Liga rivals, Real and Atletico, will be punished for similar indiscretions, although it is not known yet what the punishments could be.

Francesc Aguiler of Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims that a source inside of Uefa has revealed that sanctions will be taken against the two clubs from the capital city – who currently sit second and third in the La Liga table behind the Catalans.

It’s claimed that both Real and Atletico have signed young players classed as minors that have infringed on Fifa’s transfer policy, and that the sanctions have already been decided by the governing body of European football.

However, it’s added that the sanctions will not be signed off until a new Fifa president is elected in February, given that current incumbent Sepp Blatter is provisionally suspended as well as general secretary Jerome Valcke.
