The French Football Federation has given Marseille midfielder Joey Barton a two-game suspended ban for insulting Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva on Twitter. Barton was summoned to appear at the FFF's ethics committee for a second time after calling Silva an "overweight ladyboy".

Meanwhile, QPR's Stephane Mbia removed a Twitter post suggesting he wanted to return to Marseille. He moved to Loftus Road last summer, with Barton making a loan move to France as part of the deal. He wrote: "@Joey7Barton: Do you want to rechange (sic) your seat with me?"

Mbia claimed at first it was a joke, but backtracked again, tweeting: "No it was not a joke i delette my tweet on pressure."

QPR press officer Ian Taylor later released a statement indicating the club will deal with the issue internally. "Stephane Mbia has informed the club he is not responsible for these tweets," it said.
