Arsenal injury news: Laurent Koscielny ruled out of Hull trip with Petr Cech scans 'better than expected'

Koscielny missed the 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday and is also a major doubt for Arsenal's next match at the weekend

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny will miss the FA Cup fifth round replay against Hull City on Tuesday night after failing to recover from the minor injury that he suffered in last week’s defeat by Swansea.

Koscielny missed Saturday’s 2-2 draw with north London rivals Tottenham at White Hart Lane that leaves the Gunners clinging on to their Premier League title aspirations, and Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the centre-back will not feature in Tuesday’s trip to the KC Stadium.

In a further blow, he revealed that the France defender is also likely to miss next weekend’s fixture, be it an FA Cup sixth round tie at Watford should they see off the Tigers tomorrow or a Premier League visit of West Bromwich Albion to the Emirates.

“Laurent will be short for Hull,” Wenger told the club’s official website arsenal.com. “He has a chance to be available for the weekend, but I think even for then he will be short.”

It means that Wenger will have the same squad available to him that played out the draw at Spurs apart from midfielder Francis Coquelin, who misses out through suspension after being sent-off at the weekend.

“We lose Coquelin from his bad tackle on Saturday and everyone else looks available,” Wenger added. “I have to see how everybody has recovered today but overall we should have the same squad that went to Tottenham plus Alex Iwobi will certainly be added to the squad.”

The 66-year-old Frenchman also delivered an update on the state of goalkeeper Petr Cech, who suffered a calf injury in the 2-1 loss to Swansea. Despite scans proving to reveal that the damage Cech sustained was “better than expected”, Wenger admitted that he still expects to be without the Czech Republic international for anywhere up to a month.

“Petr’s scans were better than expected, but it will still be four weeks for him,” Wenger said. “So after the international break.”
