Might have conceded a penalty with rash tackle on Espinoza after 30 minutes. Not able to supplement attack as much as usual. Sent off.

Gael Clichy 5/10

The French full-back was given a torrid time by McManaman's tricks and pace, meaning his attacking influence was reduced too.

Wigan tended to attack down the flanks leaving City's skipper marking space for much of the game.

Matija Nastasic 6/10

Looked composed. However, could have paid dearly when he let McManaman slip away from him after 35 minutes.

Strangely subdued in the first half which meant Wigan were allowed too much time on the ball.

Lively in patches setting up chance for Tevez and testing Robles, so unlucky to pay the price for City's lethargy being subbed before the hour.

Took up good positions, but lacked service. Made bright run to create a Tevez chance.

Excellent first-half saves from Toure, Tevez and Nasri fully justifying his inclusion ahead of Al Habsi. Less impressive dealing with crosses.

Emmerson Boyce 7/10

Barbadian international from Aylesbury who was effective on right of Wigan's back three. Made crucial block when Aguero got free.

Paul Scharner 7/10

Austrian was beaten too easily by Tevez once but otherwise solid and composed in defence ad a threat in the air going forward.

Antolin Alcaraz 8/10

Passed late fitness test for which Martinez will be grateful as he marshalled Wigan's usually porous defence with intelligence.

Roger Espinoza 8/10

Eye-catching display and not just because of his flowing locks. Could have had a penalty when tripped by Zabaleta.

Given an unfamiliar wing-back role he was assiduous in blocking City's attacks while also supporting McManaman.

Tidy but unable to make the spectacular impact he did in the quarter-final at Goodison Park.

Hit the bar with a 75th-minute free-kick but Hart unworried. The Scot was not as influential as he usually has been this season.

Composed on the ball, used possession well, he showed why so many clubs are tracking his progress.

Highly impressive performance form the youngster giving Clichy a nightmare and prompting Zabaleta dismissal. Only flaw was inability to take chances.

Lively and always a concern to City's defence. Positional discipline excellent but not always took the right decision in possession.
