Yaya Toure plays his last game before joining up with Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations and Bacary Sagna has also been given a rare start, only his tenth of the season.

After his match-winning heroics in midweek, Frank Lampard is also handed a start against Championship side Wednesday, with manager Manuel Pellegrini hoping to keep City fighting on dual domestic fronts.

Sheffield Wednesday meanwhile have made four changes from the side that beat Wigan 1-0 on the 30 December, with Chris Kirkland one of the new faces.

The two sides are as follows:

Manchester City: Caballero; Sagna, Boyata, Mangala, Kolarov; Fernando, Toure, Milner, Lampard, Navas; Jovetic.

Subs: Hart, Nasri, Silva, Clichy, Fernandinho, Demichelis, Celina.
