Marouane Fellaini returns from suspension to start the FA Cup final for Manchester United as Louis van Gaal makes two changes to his starting line-up for a match that could decide his future as manager of the club.

After failing to finish in the top four, subsequently missing out on Champions League football next season, Van Gaal needs to win the FA Cup in order to give himself any chance of surviving the axe. With fresh reports linking Jose Mourinho with the job, Van Gaal could well be taking charge of his final United match.

He recalls Fellaini after the midfielder served his three-match ban for an elbow on Leicester City’s Robert Huth, and the Belgium international comes into the side for Jesse Lingard, who drops to the substitutes’ bench. The only other change to the side sees Marcos Rojo comes into the defence for Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, while Memphis Depay is left out of the squad completely.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew makes six changes from the 4-1 defeat by Southampton last weekend, though the manager elected to rest a number of key players knowing that the FA Cup final was on the horizon.

Connor Wickham returns to lead the attack with Emmanuel Adeboyr and Dwight Gayle dropping to the bench along with Jason Puncheon, meaning that Wilfried Zaha is fit enough to return from injury along with Yohan Cabaye and Yannick Bolasie.

Wayne Hennessey returns in goal, while the only change in defence sees Scott Dann replace Adrian Mariappa.

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Rojo, Carrick, Fellaini, Mata, Rooney, Martial, Rashford

Crystal Palace: Hennessey; Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare; Zaha, Cabaye, McArthur, Jedinak, Bolasie; Wickham
