Adam Le Fondre remains focused on gaining promotion from the Championship with Reading

Reading goal hero Adam Le Fondre is taking nothing for granted in the race to secure promotion to the Premier League, even if his side could be up by the end of today.

The Royals host Nottingham Forest knowing, if they better West Ham's result at Bristol City, promotion will be in the bag.

Even if they match United's result, they will be just a point shy of securing a return to the top flight, but Le Fondre is not looking that far ahead.

"We've won nothing yet," said the striker, who has earned the tag of 'super sub' of late after scoring decisive braces in the wins over Leeds and Southampton.

"We take it one game at a time. That has brought us here so why change?" he added on the club website.

Poised behind Reading are Southampton and the Hammers, seemingly set to slug it out for second place.

Saints head to Peterborough tonight, while the Hammers are looking to build on Saturday's 6-0 drubbing of Brighton.

Three points separate the sides with as many games remaining, and West Ham manager Sam Allardyce knows his men cannot rest on their laurels if they are bridge the gap and finish in the top two.

"We can't let complacency slip in," he told www.whufc.com.

"We've got to get up and go again on Tuesday night. It's towards the end of the season and we can't afford any slip-ups that will waste what we did on Saturday."

Just behind the leading trio, Birmingham can book their play-off spot if they topple Ipswich at Portman Road.

Blues were shaky in drawing with Bristol City on Saturday and manager Chris Hughton knows the importance of finishing the job.

"We've got three very tough games and, of course, you're always looking over your shoulder and hoping results go well for you," he told www.bcfc.com.

"But you have to look after your own business and we will need to get points from these remaining games."

At the bottom of the table, Portsmouth will be relegated if they lose to Crystal Palace and could even go down with a win should Bristol City also pick up three points.

Coventry will also drop out of the division if they lose to Millwall and Bristol City win.

Back at the top, Middlesbrough host Doncaster knowing that a win for them and defeat for either Blackpool (at home to Leeds) or Cardiff (at home to Derby) would put them back in the play-off places.

Those two sides will also know a win and a draw or loss for Boro could almost seal their top-six berth.

Elsewhere, Leicester and Burnley and Hull and Barnsley meet in two mid-table dead rubbers, while Brighton host Watford knowing their slim play-off hopes are over if they fail to win.
