Blackburn retain faith in beleaguered Steve Kean

Steve Kean's job at Blackburn Rovers is safe and the manager will have funds available to strengthen the squad, the club's new global adviser has confirmed.

Shebby Singh, who will be based at Ewood Park to provide a link with the owners, Venky's, said yesterday "everyone starts with a clean slate" following Rovers' relegation from the Premier League last month.

That includes Kean, who was hounded by supporters last season, while a slump in season-ticket sales led Blackburn to extend their "early bird" offer, which now stretches until the middle of next month.

"At this moment it is going to be difficult for the fans to think nothing has changed, but we would like to regroup and try to take this team forward," Singh said.

The former Malaysia defender also confirmed that the club are pressing ahead with signing players in the quest to bounce back to the top flight.

"I would say we have already discussed terms with a very, very important player, in terms of the characteristics that he can bring," revealed Singh.

"As far as I am concerned and as far as I know funds will available to buy the right sort of characteristics that this team needs."
