Peter Taylor to part company with Bradford

Bradford manager Peter Taylor will leave the club by mutual consent following Saturday's home game with Stockport.

Taylor, 58, met with the club's joint chairman Julian Rhodes yesterday after the Bantams' home defeat to Chesterfield and it has been announced he will be leaving Valley Parade after 12 months in charge.

The Bantams have slipped to 21st place in the table, six points above the relegation zone, after a run of one win in their last nine league matches.

Former England Under-21 coach Taylor, who made David Beckham captain of his country during a brief spell in charge of the senior team in November 2000, was installed as Stuart McCall's permanent successor at Bradford in February 2010.

He has previously managed Leicester, briefly in the Barclays Premier League in 2001, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Hull, Stevenage and Wycombe.

Bradford's joint chairman Mark Lawn said the club had no regrets installing Taylor as Stuart McCall's permanent successor in February last year.

Lawn said: "Everybody would have chosen Peter Taylor out of the candidates that were available to us because of his CV.

"The simple fact is that unfortunately it just hasn't worked.

"We wish Peter all the best and thank him for his efforts during his time with the football club."

The Bantams board will now begin their search for the club's fifth permanent manager in the last seven years.
