Despite being forced off due to injury within the first 25 minutes of the Euro 2016 final, Cristiano Ronaldo remained as animated as ever on the sideline.

Unable to make an impact on the pitch himself, Ronaldo took his side next to coach Fernando Santos to spur his team on to victory, barking orders at his teammates and shouting encouragement as the game entered the dying minutes of the match.

Taking a moment off from his new-found managerial duties, the 31-year-old captain returned to the bench to catch a quiet moment.

The tension of the game appeared to get all too much for the player though as he proceeded to vent out his exasperation on an unsuspecting Adrien Silva.

Whether or not he meant it, Ronaldo landed a rather tame-looking tap to the midfielder’s knee who provided a moment of comedy gold with his reaction.

As soft as Ronaldo’s hit was, Silva wasn't impressed in the slightest. Clutching his knee, the midfielder showcased his annoyance and gave his captain a good telling off.

Having realised the error of his ways, Ronaldo quickly apologised and we can only assume the two players are back on talking terms.

Even from the sidelines, Ronaldo continued to make his presence felt it would seem.

After such an agonising start to his evening, the captain saw off the night in glory to raise the Henri Delaunay Trophy for Portugal as champions of Europe.
