Germany v Slovakia player ratings: Who impressed in Lille?

The Germans put three past the Slovakians in a convincing last-16 win

Germany enjoyed potentially their best game to date at Euro 2016 as they romped to a convincing 3-0 victory against Slovakia.

Joachim Löw's side dominated the Slovakians throughout the match and got the ball rolling in the eighth minute as Boateng latched onto the end of a cleared corner with a fantastic volley.

It was the defender's first goal for Germany and from there the world champions went on to cement their authority.

Jan Kozak's spent far too much of the first half sat inside their own final third and invited attack after attack in doing so. But unlike England, the Germans were perfectly capable at breaking down their opposition and clinched their second goal two minutes before half-time through Gomez.

Draxler's 63rd minute volley inside the Slovakian penalty confirmed the win for the Germans who move through to the quarter-finals to face either Italy or Spain.

After winning in such emphatic fashion, Germany are now the side to beat at this year's tournament.

So how did the players do?

Germany:

Manuel Neuer: Pulled off a world-class save to deny Kucka but was rarely called into action beyond that. 6

Joshua Kimmich: Constant prescence down the right. Brilliant on the overlap. 7

Jerome Boateng: Fantastic strike for Germany's goal. Distribution was on point for his entire game. 7

Mats Hummels: Sat back more than his partner. Was never threatened by the Slovakian front line. 6

Jonas Hector: Pushed high like his fellow full back and linked up well with Draxler. 6

Sami Khedira: A mature and reliable performance from him. Rarely put a foot wrong. 7

Toni Kroos: Ran the show from his midfield position and created chance after chance for the Germans. 7

Thomas Müller: Not as effective as others. Quiet game as a whole. 5

Mesut Özil: Despite his penalty miss Ozil still performed and influenced the run of play. 6

Julian Draxler: Grabbed an assist for Germany's second and showed his technical abiltiy for his own goal. Very dangerous. Fantastic feet. 8

Mario Gomez: Delicate and well-taken finish for the second goal. Positioned himself well throughout the match. 7

Slovakia:

Matus Kozácik: Saved a penalty and kept the scoreline at three with some top saves. 6

Peter Pekarík: Struggled with Draxler throughout but was better on the ball in the second half. 6

Martin Skrtel: Conceded a reckless penalty challenge on Gomez and lost his cool on occasion. 5

Jan Durica: Grew increasingly frustrated as the match went on as evidence by his late 40-yard strike on goal. 6

Norbet Gyömbér: Far too narrow in his positioning. Afforded Muller and Kimmich too much space. 5

Patrik Hrosovsky: Over-run in the centre of the park. Failed to leave his mark on the game. 6

Milan Skriniar: Looked neat and tidy on the ball in the middle but struggled to have any real influence. 6

Marek Hamsik: Worked hard to inject some energy and tempo into Slovakia's game with his runs but ultimately couldn't carry his side. 6

Juraj Kucka: Enjoyed Slovakia's best chances. Threatened with a header in the first half and had a great strike on goal in the second. 6

Michal Duris: Disappointing game. Far too isolated in the first half and still struggled once Slovakia attempted to open up their play. 5

Vladimir Weiss: Provided some service into the box but it wasn't enough to cause any real danger. 6
