Liverpool supporters will get a taste of what is to come next season if they tune into the friendly between the Republic of Ireland and England.

Roy Hodgson has opted for a diamond formation for the game in Dublin and selected Reds captain Jordan Henderson alongside James Milner in central midfield, who signed a deal this week to play for Liverpool next season.

The formation also includes a third Liverpool man, Adam Lallana, in the four-man midfield as the attacking point of the diamond.

The trio have played together for England before, of course, but that was when Milner was at Manchester City.

With Steven Gerrard almost out of the Anfield door, the friendly at the Aviva Stadium is the first chance the three players - and Henderson and Milner especially - have to find a working relationship in central midfield.

Arsenal's Jack Wilshere will be at the base of the diamond.
