Manchester City suffered an injury blow during international week after star man Sergio Aguero was carried off the pitch just 22 minutes into Argentina's shock defeat to Ecuador.

The 27-year-old striker is yet to have a scan on a hamstring injury during the 2-0 defeat, but it appears as if he will miss Argentina's game with Paraguay next week.

Aguero has suffered a string of injury problems in his time at the club, and had only just returned from a knee injury he had earlier in the season.

"He had been carrying a knock with his club, during the week we took good care of him," said Argentina boss Gerardo Martino after the match.

"He was moving around the pitch well, but unfortunately he felt some discomfort and we are going to lose him.

"I haven't spoken to the doctor but I can confirm the injury is not the same as the one he had been carrying with his club."

Manuel Pellegrini's Premier League leaders are next in action against Bournemouth on 17 October.
