Having made one appearance during the ten-month English season Tomas Rosicky will be making his second in five days when he plays for Czech Republic against Croatia on Friday. The midfielder said playing such an intense tournament is difficult after so little regular football, but he is fit to play.

“Everything is fine for me,” he said. “It is not easy after not playing much football this season to come into a tournament that is this intense, but even at Arsenal when I did not play at all, I was fit two months before the season ended and I was in competitive training for a long time. I knew I was fit and that I would be able to participate here. If I did not feel that, I would not have travelled.

Rosicky is a free agent after leaving Arsenal following another injury-hit season and he added: “I want to play and I just want to show that I still can. I have not had any thoughts about the future at all. I want to enjoy the moment here and I will decide what I will do next after the tournament has finished [for the Czech Republic].

After losing to a late goal against Spain in their opening match the Czechs need something from Friday's match in St Etienne against a Croatian team which won their opening tie, against Turkey. The Czechs spent most of the match against Spain in Toulouse on the defensive and Rosicky added: “We have to show more when we go forward. There were moments against Spain when we could hold the ball more or we could do better in the counter. We have to improve that.
