Footballers including Brazil’s Neymar, Fabregas, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have appeared alongside non-sporting celebrities in a star-studded advert ahead of the World Cup.

Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and tennis superstar Serena Williams also make surprising cameos in the advert for Beats by Dre headphones.

Called The Game Before the Game, it chronicles players’ preparations for matches around the world.

Spain’s Cesc Fabregas is seeing kissing a ring from his girlfriend, while Luiz Suarez does the same to a tattoo of his children’s names on his wrist.

Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, from Mexico, is shown praying but the chief narrative is of Brazilian footballer Neymar following a pep-talk from his father.

Players including Bacary Sagna, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Blaise Matudi, Jozy Altidore, Mario Götze and Robin van Persie make appearances, as do Rio Ferdinand and Thierry Henry.

Set to the tune of “Jungle” by Jamie N Commons & The X Ambassadors, the advert also shows fans’ preparations around the world, including the inevitable St George’s Cross shaved into a man’s head and a 1966 tattoo.

Put online yesterday, the five-minute video has already been watched almost a million times.

Beats headphones were established in 2008 by rapper and producer Dr Dre and a record executive.
