Two goals by Juan Mata gave Manchester United a 2-1 victory over Liverpool, in a match that Steven Gerrard last only 38 seconds before his dismissal for a stamp on Ander Herrera.

The Red Devils started strong on first half and it was on 14 minutes when Ander Herrera found Mata with a brilliant ball and the latter scored his team's first.

The Reds tried to react but Adam Lallana missed a great chance in an excellent position where he shot just wide.

Brendan Rodgers decided to add some experience on the field with the addition of Gerrard but Liverpool's captain was sent off in just 48 seconds for stamping on Herrera.

With one player down the home team conceded a second when Mata scored perhaps the best goal of the season with an overhead kick on 59 minutes.
